Alvin Blick, age 87, died peacefully after a brief illness on May 19, 2019 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC. Alvin was born February 22, 1932, in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He was the son of the late Thomas Blick and Lillian Blick.

Alvin graduated from high school in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He was employed for the City of Baltimore as a skilled carpenter. He retired from Encoch Pratt Free Library after many years of service.

Alvin was a loyal member of True Fellowship Ministries of America Inc. Worldwide Church for 33 years. He was Chairmen of the Deacon Board, Senior Choir Member, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, President of Shepard's Help and Pastor's Aid, Finance Officer, and head of the Benevolence Committee. He loved his Bishop Jones and wife Myra who also loved him and continually prayed, called and would visit before he left Maryland. Alvin was a faithful servant. He loved to pray, sing and instill words of wisdom to the youth. He was a willing worker in any area needed. One of his favorite bible verses was 2 Timothy 2:15. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching football.

Alvin is survived by a loving family: daughter Alease Bell (David); sister Lillian Jackson, brother LeRoy Blick; daughters-in-law Donna Blick Ogala and Norma Britt; grandchildren Sherri Thornton, Stephanie Crippen, Michael Steven Bell, Sr. (Tonja), Marie Stewart (Danjuma) and Nneka Ogala; great grandchildren Christopher Smith, Shaniya, Michael Bell Jr., Matthew Bell, and Jazzmine Stewart; and a host of nieces and nephews. He's preceded by his loving wife Doreathia Blick of 55 years; his sons Melvin Blick, Nyne Britt, Jr., Russell Blick, Ulric Blick and his daughter Sheila Blick; brothers Dallas Thomas Blick, Eddie Lee Blick, James Blick, Jimmy Blick, Leonard Blick; his sisters Alethia, Betty, and Georgia.
