Obituary for Mrs. Charlie Mae Blackford

December 16, 1926 - March 17, 2020
Dumfries, Virginia | Age 93

In Loving Memory

On March 17, 2020, the Gates of Heaven opened up allowing an
Angel to journey home. There were thunders of Praise as Charlie
Mae Blackford entered her final resting place. The place where
there is no sickness, no pain and no sorrow.

On December 16, 1926, Charlie Mae Blackford was born to the late
Mary and Andrew Carson in West Palm Beach Florida, an only
child. Charlie Mae's early years were in Florida, Ohio and Baltimore,
Maryland, where she graduated from Cortez Peters Business
School. She later, moved to Washington D.C., attending
Southeastern and Georgetown University. She worked for several
Federal Government agencies; Health Education and Welfare, EPA,
Pentagon, Veterans Administration and Department of Labor. She
eventually retired from Department of Labor as a Paralegal

Despite being soft spoken and laid back, Charlie Mae spoke volumes
when displaying her love of God, family and friends. You could hear
her sometimes with a loud "Hallelujah" at church services. When
she prayed for you, she would close her prayer with "Its already
done!" in JESUS name. She loved writing, reading, bible study,
visiting the sick and shut in, Gentle Joints Water Aerobics, Sr. Center
activities, Christian television, comedies, singing and listening to
gospel music. Charlie Mae loved good food, especially gravy and
desserts. Her favorite songs were "Take Me To The King" and "Never
Have To Be Alone." Charlie Mae loved to be surrounded by family
and friends, but she wouldn't want a lot of tears and sorrow but for
all to remember the good times that were shared.

Charlie Mae Blackford is praying that you'll (family & friends) sense
God's presence in this time of grief and feel God's love surrounding
you. Know his inner peace. For God cares so much for you and
wipes each tear you cry. You never need to feel alone, for He'll
never leave your side.

Charlie Mae joins her daughter Cheryl Patrice
Blackford. She leaves to celebrate her life, daughter Janice
Patterson, son, Harold Blackford, Jr. (wife-Andrea). Grandchildren,
Ronald Valentine II, Malik Patterson, Ivy Patterson, Timothy
Patterson Jr, Myran Patterson (wife-Alexis) and a host of great-grandchildren.
